AGENCY SEEKS MARKETING ANALYST. The Ivy Group seeks an analyst to serve as the agency's go-to expert for data management, visualization, and interpretation. The Marketing Analyst will be responsible for creating tracking infrastructure and reports for evaluating campaign performance with actionable insights. They will also support the public library consulting team in community analysis projects. The ideal candidate eagerly dives right into a research rabbit hole, has mastered all things GA4, can engage in a healthy debate on the merits of a treemap versus a pie chart, and feels at home in the depths of a spreadsheet.

This position is in-person in Charlottesville, Virginia. Part-time applicants will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of industry trends, audience behavior, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and strategies
  • Identify and analyze reliable data sources to support the library consulting team's community analysis work
  • Assist in developing and managing A/B tests and experiments to optimize marketing channels, messaging, and audience targeting
  • Conduct search engine optimization audits in collaboration with the agency's web team
  • Configure, test, and troubleshoot digital marketing campaign tracking using, e.g., Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager
  • Create approaches that measure and tell the story of communications campaigns' impact
  • Act as point-person for data quality by collecting, logging, cleaning, analyzing, forecasting, and summarizing data
  • Create readable and informative dashboards and reports by applying design and reporting best practices
  • Prepare data visualizations for marketing campaign reports, environmental scans, survey reports, benchmarking studies, market segmentation studies, and other quantitative deliverables using, e.g., Tableau, Excel
  • Generate actionable insights and recommendations to improve campaign performance, and present findings to agency and client teams
  • Integrate various data sources such as CRMs, ecommerce platforms, and Google Analytics so that all tools "talk" to each other
  • Translate complex concepts into plain English
  • Create and maintain "how-to" documentation for data management processes and technical quality assurance checks
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology for smoother processes and increased efficiencies in agency workflow
  • Skillfully leverage and maintain certifications in Google business products such as Analytics, Ads, Business Profile Manager, Search Console, Tag Manager, etc.
  • Proof deliverables for data accuracy, including survey reports, benchmarking studies, market segmentation studies, and campaign reports
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of marketing trends, technologies, and best practices in marketing analytics to continuously improve processes and methodologies
  • Advise team members and clients on data management and privacy best practices
  • Contribute to team projects and ad hoc research projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business analytics, economics, statistics, mathematics, marketing, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in marketing analytics, data analysis, or a related role
  • High proficiency in business and data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Google Analytics, Tableau) and skill in data manipulation and visualization techniques
  • Strong quantitative skills with demonstrated ability to establish campaign tracking infrastructure and gather, synthesize, and report on data from multiple data sources
  • Skilled at analyzing the performance of websites, marketing channels, digital campaigns, social media, and web content, while proposing optimization strategies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with complex datasets and draw meaningful insights
  • Minimum one year of continuous experience with social media analytics and deep understanding of social media networks including Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok
  • Ability to tackle complex tasks independently with sound judgment, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence
  • Strong knowledge of and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Bonus points: Mastery of a statistical software package or programming language (e.g., SPSS, SAS, Python, R, etc.)
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and curious, with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality in work
  • Enthusiasm for collaborating with coworkers and clients to deliver the best work possible
